COACH BIOS
Janet Shanahan
Coaching Qualifications: Equine Canada Level 1 Coach
CHA Level 4 Coach
Janet is originally from Ireland, but came to Canada in 1986 to work for show jumping legend Torchy Millar who led Canada to the Olympics last summer as chef d’equippe. Working as a groom and travelling extensively to large horse shows around North America, Janet gained invaluable experience around horses. She has taken this love of horses and showing, and has been teaching children for the last 10 years. Originally working on the north shore, she gained valuable experience teaching at the North Shore Equestrian centre, then moved to Burnaby where she taught at a large riding school for 3 years. In 2008, Janet bought the riding stables in Maple Ridge where she currently teaches. Janet has 3 children which means that in addition to her wealth of experience around horses, she also understands kids too.
